Whether you are in customer meetings, in the office or at company events, a look reveals a lot about the character of a person. For the first impression to be a success, you should avoid making fashion faux pas. We have put together a few tips for you on how to use your choice of clothes to make a “precision landing”.

1. Preparation

There are a lot of advantages to laying things out the evening before. You can notice crumpled or stained clothes in plenty of time and the problem can be solved. You are also more relaxed in the evening and you have more time to pick out the things you’d like to wear. Combining clothing is also more stylish than putting on the first thing in the morning. An aside: a quick glance at the weather forecast for the next day will help you avoid some unpleasant surprises and will also ensure that you are always correctly dressed for the weather.

2. Adapt the outfit to fit the occasion

To dress stylishly is one thing, to match the clothes to the occasion is another. A beach hat may be a lovely accessory, but it has no place in the office or with the customer. For example, torn or short trousers are not acceptable, and this applies to men and women. Creative, crazy outfits should be kept for personal time. For business appointments, it’s better to rely on simple, classic clothing.

3. Choosing the right size is the be-all and end-all

For men, you should make sure that your suit fits your shape. To ensure that it does, it is often worthwhile to invest in a good tailor. For women, it is also important to make sure your clothes are the right size. A pair of suit trousers in the right colour and fit can be just as comfortable as a pair of jogging bottoms.

4. Colour chaos

For both sexes, the rule is to never combine more than two colours, but within each colour family you can experiment as much as you like. Note: light and dark blue count as a single colour. We recommend that you wear shoes, bags, scarves and belts in the same colour, but the top and trousers in a different one. You can define the colour of these accessories to stand out, or you can choose to focus on the clothes. If you feel safe and have a good sense of colour, you can dare to experiment with three or even four colours. For everyone else, the message is: less is more!

 5. A wide selection

When you are out shopping, don’t focus on a single clothing store. Be open to new ideas! Often the biggest surprises come from brands you’ve never considered before. Try new malls. New place, new selection, new clothes. If you don’t have the time or the opportunity to wander through the city, go to the vast world of online shopping. There is a wide offering and you can visit online stores from all over the world. But make sure you plan ahead, as you might have to send things back.
